WRO UK testimonies

Here’s what some of the teachers and parents from the 2025 WRO cohort said:

·       I loved STEMpura’s event and loved seeing what other children came up with. I loved the energy and buzz of the event. But also, what I was most happy with was the fact that I did not have to keep pushing my kids to focus, if anything they took this whole project upon themselves and I had to ask them to take a break. I have never seen them so engaged, and that brought me real happiness.

·       It has been remarkable to see my autistic son be able to present and talk about his project. He is usually shy and introverted and it feels like he was in his element.

·       I would like to thank STEMpura for always being available for our questions but most of all for introducing me to other parents and setting up WhatsApp groups to allow us to come together ask questions and feel part of the community, I have not felt lost when I didn’t understand something, the help was always there and very prompt.

·       As a mother of a neurodivergent child, who has severe autism, I was moved to tears to be able to see my son present in front of so many people, with confidence and to even answer questions about his project. At no point did he look to me for reassurance, and he really shone today, I am so proud and so thankful that we have been able to take part. He even made friends today, it has taken him months to make one friend at school. Thank you

·       WRO has allowed my daughter to find her tribe.

·       We have taken our students to so many different competitions, but with this one, they truly feel a sense of belonging and comradery that I have not really experienced in the past

Here’s what some of the children from the 2025 WRO cohort said:

·       I love how inclusive STEMpura’s events are and how we are able to use ANY kit, it allows us to think outside the box, and be creative.

·       I have never been able to have access to robots, build one or code to make one move, so this has been excellent.

·       My family can’t afford to buy robots, so it is good that I can come to this event and try to work with one.

·       I have never really felt like I was good at anything before, but preparing for this competition, supporting my team, has made me feel like I am good at something, and I just want to keep coming back.

·       I loved this event because before today, I had never seen a robot, let alone touch one and play with one, I am so proud I was able to make a robot and do some coding, thank you for helping me experience this, now I can’t wait to participate in a competition.

·       I love this competition because, unlike others I can see what other people have created and talk to them and discuss what challenges they faced how they overcame it, it is so refreshing to see this not only to learn from their experience but also to feel that we all experience the same struggles and journey.
